Eric BewsEric Bews was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1993. He started taking piano lessons at the age of six and completed his ARCT in 2011.

Bews recently completed his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at the University of Saskatchewan; where he studied with Kathleen Solose. During his undergraduate years, Bews was invited to participate in workshops at the Orford Arts Centre Summer Academy and the Saskatchewan Registered Music Teachers’ Conference; where he has worked with John Perry, Jimmy Brière, and Marc Durand.

Bews has been the recipient of several awards and scholarships at the local and provincial levels. Some of his highlights include runner-up for most outstanding senior piano performer at the Saskatchewan Provincial Music Festival in 2013 and 2014, runner-up in the Kinsmen Piano Competition at the Saskatoon Music Festival in 2013 and 2014, and second place in the Gordon Wallis Competition in 2014.

In the fall, Bews will begin a Master of Music in Piano Performance at the University of Western Ontario; where he will be studying under Stephan Sylvestre. Eric’s future goals include teaching at the university level and pursuing a performing career. He is very thrilled to represent Saskatchewan at the CFMTA Piano Competition.
